IWCR WALKING GROUPS
We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the world right here in our region and what better way to enjoy it than to be out there with one of our walking groups.
There are many groups offering walks or hikes of different lengths and degrees of difficulty so we are sure you will easily find something to suit your capabilities.
Important Notice to all Groups
New members must contact the Leader before joining any of the hiking groups.
Hiking boots and joining the insurance scheme with a current medical certificate are obligatory for all members of the hiking groups except the Easy Walks. Family and friends may, with the Leader's agreement, join a hike at their own risk and they must have hiking boots.
If it is raining, the hike or walk will be cancelled. You should check the weather forecast and if in doubt contact your Group Leader between 8.00 – 8.30.
Easy Walks

This group meets every Wednesday morning to walk for approximately 2 – 3 enjoyable and easy hours. If you are interested, please contact one of the Leaders the day before to find out where the group is meeting.
Dogs can be brought on the walks but they must be kept on a lead. The leaders reserve the right to ban dogs that misbehave.
Middlemarch

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.![]()

We meet on Tuesdays at 9.30 generally in Châteauneuf. We walk for about three hours, so there is no need for sandwiches unless a longer trip is planned. In winter we go snowshoeing which would be a whole day; at other times of the year we make trips of historic or general interest or do hikes suggested by our members. Information is sent out weekly to everyone on the mailing list.
If you are new to Middlemarch please call Gillian with your email address to be put on the list.
Hiking regulations apply, look above for details. Please contact one of the Leaders to find out the meeting place and time each week; the hike is cancelled in bad weather.

This popular group, with a wonderful mix of ages and nationalities, aims simply to enjoy the countryside and exercise at the same time. Where else is better than the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var to enjoy this pastime?
We meet at 9.00 either at the car park Les Cerisiers, Pré du Lac (P) or Salle des Fêtes, Valbonne (V) and are back by 16.00. We walk for between 4 and 5 hours in mixed terrain (rarely flat!) and have a picnic lunch.

This is a popular group for family as well as individual members. The aim is simply to enjoy the countryside and exercise at the same time but in a relaxed way. The walks are varied but not difficult and they give, particularly husbands who work, an opportunity to get to know the area. A picnic lunch is usual, but sometimes we are tempted to have lunch in a restaurant. The day often finishes with coffee or beer in a local bar. Please call Angela by the Wednesday before to find out when and where to meet.
